This five week course looks at what happened in the 2024 election and what it means for women in American politics going forward. Attention will be given to the following topics: gender and the Democratic Party campaign for the White House; gender and the Republican Party campaign for the White House; gender and the vote; a gendered policy agenda for 2025; and a gendered strategy for redefining political leadership for and by women. Each class session will consider relevant historical precedents to understand the very recent history of politics in 2024 and the challenges of 2025.
