Robert Zaretsky, Ph.D.




Robert Zaretsky is a professor of history in the Honors College, University of Houston. Author of 11 books—most recently Victories Never Last: Reading and Caregiving in a Time of Plague—he is also a regular contributor to the New York TimesWashington PostForeign AffairsForeign PolicyTimes Literary Supplement, and the Los Angeles Review of Books. His new book, The Subversive Simone Weil: A Life in Five Ideas, will be published next year. He has a BA in Philosophy from McGill University, an MA in European History from the University of Vermont, and a PhD in European History from the University of Virginia.
