A Draughte of Londoun Ale, British Medieval Ales | Jun 26, 2022
The Women's Institute of Houston in collaboration with Archaeology Now invites you to teleport to Merrie Olde Englande, courtesy of the Houston micro-brewery! Your brew adventure includes a tour of the facilities of Walking Stick Brewing Company, the only air-conditioned brewing facility in the US. You will meet the brewers to learn how a “British” ale is produced in Houston. Then, as the sun begins to set and the air cools, feast on a dinner of fish and chips accompanied by a pint of ale. The afternoon culminates in a talk featuring archaeologist and brew master, Lucas Livingston, who will join via Zoom from the Chicago Brewseum. Lucas also happens to be one of the stars of the Archaeology Now YouTube series, “Uncorked.”
Archaeology Now is the Houston-based affiliate of a nationwide organization—the Archaeological Institute of America. It was founded in 1967 by Dominique De Menil, Philip Oliver Smith, and Walter Widrig. Today, it presents an ambitious series of events for the public focused on the many stories through time.
