This course will explore the most memorable moments of Broadway musicals – the showstoppers that bring the audience to its feet. We will look at the songs and dances which are the exciting highlights of the most-celebrated performances as well as some lesser- known musicals, the perfect coming together of the creative talents of writers, directors, choreographers, and actors. The lectures will discuss the back story of some of the best-loved numbers in musical theatre and the stars who performed them so vividly. Video and audio clips will include selections from Gypsy, Guys and Dolls, Pippin, Company, Anything Goes, and Sweeney Todd, among many others. Each session will end with a production number from a recent or current Broadway show.
This class will be held onsite at WIH and simulcast via Zoom.
