Holy Cities in the Holy Land (6 Week Online Course)

Seymour Rossel

Unique to the world, in 8,500 square miles (roughly the size of New Jersey) the “Holy Land” encompasses eight cities sacred to five world-class religions. Of course, Jerusalem comes immediately to mind—sacred to Jews, Muslims, and Christians. Another city on our list is sacred to both Judaism & Islam. Six more cities are sacred either to Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Samaritanism, or the Bahai faith. This is the story of how these cities became sacred spaces as their faiths arose; and, how this sacredness is celebrated today, including through archaeology, architecture, and art. Rather than contrasting these separate religions and beliefs, we will experience each city in order to celebrate one another.
