Midlife Wellness During and Beyond “The Change”
Perimenopause means "around” menopause and refers to the time during which your body makes the transition to menopause, marking the end of the reproductive years. Perimenopause includes the years of the menopausal transition and the 1st year after the final menstrual period.
Women start perimenopause at different ages, usually late 30’s to early 40’s. You may notice signs and symptoms of perimenopause, such as menstrual irregularity, hot flashes, poor sleep or weight gain.
Some women don’t have any symptoms, but we all have major internal changes. These can include elevated cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, increased risk of dementia, bone & muscle loss to name a few. Dr. Leah, board certified OB/GYN and midlife wellness expert, will discuss what can be done to control symptoms, prevent disease and answer your questions about what to expect during this often overlooked and dismissed transition of female biology.
