US Foreign Policy and the Biden Administration | November 2021

Joe Barnes

The Biden Administration is putting its stamp on US foreign policy. President Joe Biden and his advisors clearly want to mark a decisive break from the Trump Administration in a number of important areas. But, there are also continuities between the two administrations.

In this class students will discuss foreign policy issues “ripped from the headlines” as new challenges arise for the Biden Administration. Students will learn about some of the key foreign policy challenges confronting the Biden Administration as they occur. Subjects will cover a range of topics such as US grand strategy, our relationship with China, and the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East. The object is to give students the necessary background to understand the complex, sometimes contradictory, and constantly evolving arena of US foreign policy. There will be an emphasis on informality and the free exchange of views.

This class will be held onsite at WIH.
