Medical Ethics: What is It?

Gregory Han

The United States has become an increasingly medicalized society shaped by rapid technological innovation, longer life spans, and remarkable advances in treatment and disease prevention. Conditions once considered fatal are now routinely managed or cured. Yet an essential question remains: do advances in medicine always lead to better patient care? In this four-session series, we will examine major contemporary issues in medical ethics, exploring how evolving technologies—including artificial intelligence—are reshaping healthcare and challenging traditional ethical frameworks.
