Israel and Palestine: An In-depth Update

Chris Schaefer

The war in Gaza drags on, with peace still an elusive prospect. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu set March 10, the beginning of Ramadan, as a deadline for Hamas to come to terms with a hostage deal, but what happens then? Meanwhile, Netanyahu's standing in Israel looks increasingly shaky as a prominent member of his War Cabinet, General Benny Gantz, visits Washington without Netanyahu’s approval or support. On the other side, the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority and his entire cabinet announced their resignations to make way for a new post-war Palestinian government to include Gaza—but there is no sign of Hamas’ agreement.

Where does this war against Hamas stand? How has Hamas held out against the powerful Israeli military? How, and when, is this likely to end? Come join us for an in-depth review of both Israeli and Palestinian politics, as the two sides stand in the middle of their worst war since 1967.
