Philosophy for Life: Ideas from Great Minds to Rock Your World

Jill Carroll, Ph.D.

For many people, the word “philosophy” conjures up complex writings and ideas that are difficult to understand and too abstract and theoretical to apply to real life. While this is true, or nearly true, for many philosophies, a few schools of philosophy are designed, from the beginning, for real world application. In this short course, we will spend some time with four of these schools of thought: the Stoics, the Epicureans, the Buddhists, and the Taoists. Teachings from these four schools of thought count as some of the most applicable ancient wisdom in existence and can be implemented immediately into one’s life. After all, what use is philosophy if it can’t make a difference in our lives? These teachings certainly can make a positive and even enduring difference on our lives. Join us!
