That 70s Music!

Dominique Royem, Ph.D.

Starting in 1972, we heard, “The 60s are over!”, which led people to believe that idealism had become passé. Along with the fading of the popularism of the 60s, the musical landscape splintered and became more focused on ‘semi-popular’ and niche musical acts. The roots of many modern trends found fertile ground to bloom and evolve during this decade. In this class, we will trace the genesis of musical trends that arose and bloomed, along with one that died a violent death.
